R.I.P. 2008

Happy New Year! Most of us hear that saying and think nothing of it. At most it is just a seasonal catch phrase that we say to people because it seems like the right thing to do. The Christmas euphoria is starting to wear off and we have one more reason to party and get a day off from work. But this truly is going to be a Happy New Year! We will be starting off with a brand new landmark president and at this point the unknown is 10 times more exciting than the same old shit. Also, our perspective of the economy can’t get much worse so hopefully we will be feeling prosperous in a few months. But most of all, we survived the storm and we learned from it. Not all lessons can be taught-some need to be felt. We endured a “war,” and our house was divided. Like it or not, Obama is now OUR president, and that means we all need to come together and make this country great again. I think everyone is tired of the bickering, the fighting, and the disproportions. And as usual, I will do my best in 2009 to express this through my designs for Proletariat. You all have helped make this American Dream excel another year proving that American Made products are desired as well as profitable. You also have been wearing your thoughts on your chest as opposed to staying quiet ad that effects change as well. Most of all you have kept the interesting undercurrent moving through your art, voice, and minds and that is what makes this place exciting and unique. I have said it before-this is a labor of love and you are what inspires me. This year I will be dropping a new collection of tees based around the idea of Reconstruction. I feel like our country is in a similar situation as we were after the Civil War. Obviously it isn’t as bad as it was then, not even close. But I think there is a rebuilding between friends and families and States that needs to happen. I think we need to focus on the good for a while and as Bostonians a little positivity goes a long way. ‘m looking forward to 2009 and I hope you are too. Take some time to celebrate in your own way tonight and tomorrow think about what you really want to do and go for it. Shit, if I could do this- and Kenji can make a living on art, and if Joe can live the dream in the record biz and if Derrick can start his own Garbage collecting biz, and if Gabe could kiss a girl, and if Keaton could get us a beer sponsor then this is the best fucking country in the mother fucking world! Now I’m gonna kill the last of my bad brain cells and tomorrow I get back to work. Happy FUCKING new year friends!
