Last month (… and I only got the pictures now…) a bunch of friends of mine and I drove to a nearby abandoned airfield in the middle of nowhere to camp, drink and rock at the Area4 Festival.
This is our crew on a typical morning (around noon): Looking wasted and starting the day with coffee and beer’n’lemonade.
(notice the sheikh?)
An abandoned airfield makes for a perfect festival area.
Those poor guys had to do the unthankful job of playing the very first show.
This was the first band to really get the crowd going, the nationally well known band the ‘Donots’.
‘Mando Diao’, an internationally well-known band in Europe, did a really poor perfomance. They were so boring I went back to the tent and slept for half an hour. And then they ended the show early, no goodbye or encore whatsoever. Arrogant bastards.
One night while we were rockin’ it, some asses stole one of our camping chairs. So the next day, we all customized them for better re-identification. Here’s mine:
For four days we were all pretty much living on canned food, powdered coffee and these cheap beer cans that have no brand name on them, only the alcohol percentage.
Of course the chilled Becks at the stage area was soo much better than our warm cans!
(Sebastian and me)
Among the highlights of the weekend were the Hives (you americans might know them from that song they made with Timbaland)…
…Billy Talent…
(we started watching the show from were the picture was taken, but then moshed our way to the front allright)
…and ‘mighty, mighty’ Tool, who outro-ed the festival on sunday night with the most amazing light show.
