Greetings From Asbury Park | TTHU Guide to Asbury Park, NJ

If you find yourself in New Jersey make sure you take the time to visit Asbury Park, NJ. Don’t expect to see what you watch on “The Jersey Shore”, none of that is going down in Asbury Park. Asbury is a small shore community that was THE PLACE TO BE in the 30’s 40’s and 50’s. The place was hit extremely hard by economic downturn sometime ago. The re-beautification of Asbury Park has been taking place for over ten years now and the place is looking great. I remember being a kid, going to punk shows at The Stone Pony (Bouncing Souls, BIGWIG, ETC) or seeing bigger acts at Convention Hall and the neighborhood was a much rougher place. Now the area has a ton of up and coming restaurants, night clubs and more. Whether winter or summer, it is worth exploring the area and seeing some of the amazing historical landmarks. Wander a bit by foot, see the town, eat the food and have a good time. If you are in the mood for a punk rock show hit up Asbury Lanes where you can bowl and mosh at the same time!
