I’ve always told my wife that soda was going to be the cigarettes of our generation. It’s weird that we are only now looking at labels on things and wondering..wtf is that? And that? And that? I couldn’t even pronounce most of the ingrediants let alone tell you what they are. Alternet reports that due to California’s stricter health laws Coca-Cola and Pepsi are having to remove high levels of 4-methylimidazole, a chemical known to cause Cancer in lab rats, and an ingrediant in both brands’ caramel coloring. California lists 4-methylimidazole as a carcinogen and states that anything over 29 micrograms is too much for human consumption. Your average can of Coke or Pepsi has 4-5 times that amount. This reduction of 4-methylimidazole is only in California so if this worries you you better buy your soda online…
