My buddy Jason Soroka has been giving Northern Jersey a real kick in the ass for the past year. His t-shirt line, The Fresh has done more than just make t-shirts. He’s thrown dance parties (R.I.P. FreakShow), made punk mixtapes with exclusive tracks, put together amateur skate competitions, and now, he can add “hosted an art show” to his resume.
Last weekend, Gallery U in Montclair, NJ was buzzing with music and excitement as people filled the space. The show featured paintings, photographs, and mixed mediums from twelve different local artists, and 50% of the proceeds from all sales went to benefit a newly opened library in Montclair.
As for his motive behind the show, Jason says “Since I am originally from a suburban town of only houses and no culture or places to hang out, I started going to and working in Montclair at a young age. Since then, I’ve made a lot of likeminded friends and met a number of inspiring people from the area. I moved there about a year ago and wanted to do something to give back to the art-driven community. I am fortunate to have many talented friends who were kind enough to submit some of their work for this event.”
