WWII / still a vivid memory with my family

March 28th, 2012 | Fashion, Headlines | 2 Comments

I get nostalgic about WWII and the Great Generation. The sacrifices we make in our lives will never amount to the ones made in theirs. It led one side of my family to prosperity and drove the other side to destruction. Here is something my mother shared with me recently I wanted to share.

The Ghost Towns of Iraq – What will be left behind when we leave

December 14th, 2011 | Headlines | 0 Comments

Besides broken families, a shitty government, corruption, new terrorists, etc., we will be leaving behind anything that has been taken off of the accounting books. Tanks, Army barracks, large concrete barricades…Here’s an interesting article from the Daily Mail about our massive troop withdrawal (Thank God!) and what’s left behind. Read More

Buggin’ Out
by Goldbug, 31, Mile High City

It’s 3 pm and you get a news update on your phone that the bond market has collapsed, and people are in full panic. Or perhaps the CDC has stated a new strain of swine flu is in your area, and quarantine is imminent. Or maybe that earthquake that was never supposed to happen where you live just hit, and there is unimaginable devastation. It’s time to either stay put or bug out. Read More

November 4th, 2010 | Headlines | 1 Comment

TTHU Gang Post #1 | Our top 3 concerts of all time!

September 16th, 2010 | A/V Club, P.O.V. | 2 Comments

I thought this would be a great segment of TTHU. Joe, Justin, Julian and I all come from different backgrounds. I was born in a cave and raised by she-wolfs and the rest of these guys were born in brothels and raised by she-males. Just kidding, That’s So RAVEN! I’m a little drunk. Just went to the world’s saddest bar in South Station while waiting for my train and had a few shots of Jameson and a $3 Rolling Rock. This fat guy across from me is eating some delicious Chinese food and I kind of want to wrestle him for it except I know I will lose. Anways, back to the post. So this morning I polled the lads to see what their top 3 concerts of all time were and this is how we answered. Joe was the first to reply so he will start the festivities! Read More

Blood Electronics

July 29th, 2010 | A/V Club, Headlines | 0 Comments

You may have heard of blood diamonds which refers to the unscrupulous practices involved in getting diamonds from the dirt to your jewelry store. Diamond mining in Africa often violates human rights, people are enslaved, treated poorly, killed, raped and the money often goes to fund militant groups that suppress the local people even further. A very similar struggle is taking place in the Congo now, except in addition to digging up diamonds, people are digging up precious metals that are then sold by these violent militias to be used by electronic companies for our everyday electronics and gadgets. Check out the video and for more information on the chaos in the Congo and how electronics companies may be fueling that chaos click HERE to read a piece in the NY TIMES.
