From Reuters: “Aritst Shepard Fairey, who created the iconic “Hope” campaign poster featuring then-Sen. Barack Obama for the 2008 presidential campaign, pleaded guilty in Manhattan Federal Court on Friday to one count of criminal contempt for destroying documents, manufacturing evidence and other misconduct.

The guilty plea stems from Fairey’s civil litigation against the Associated Press over copyright issues revolving around the poster. Fairey claimed that his use of an AP photograph as the basis for the poster fell under the “fair use” doctrine.

In his complaint against AP, Fairey claimed he had used an AP image of Obama and actor George Clooney from an April 2006 National Press Club event as the basis for his work. In actuality, he used a different, tightly cropped image — which was also an AP photo — as the basis for the poster.

In an effort to conceal this falsehood, Fairey created numerous fraudulent documents, and tried to delete multiple electronic documents that would have proven his claim false, according to U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.

Fairey also ignored a judge’s deadlines for producing discovery documents for the trial, Bharara said, and suggested to an employee that a back-ordered document-retention policy be created in order to explain why documents had been deleted.

Bharara said Fairey further coached a witness in his case against the AP to give a false account of the facts.

Fairey and the AP settled the copyright case in January 2011, with Fairey agreeing not to use unlicensed AP photos in his future work.

Fairey, 42, faces six months in prison and one year of supervised release, plus a $5,000 fine. He will be sentenced on July 16.”

During a speech President Obama was giving at Central Highschool in Manchester, New Hampshire he got mic checked! “Mr. President Over 4,000 peaceful protesters have been arrested” and sadly the crowd overpowers the group of 15 people and start chanting Obama! but I still think its pretty powerful and its direct. He talks about how by the end up next month, all of our troops will be out of Iraq. 10 years later, its about time. I’m curious to why Obama has not addressed the Occupy protests.

Is it just me or is it impossible to believe anything that comes out of Washington D.C?

Dear policy makers…Let me have a few minutes of your time to remind you of a story called The Boy Who Cried Wolf. You see, every time we catch you lying, or you are involved in a scandal or you say you are going to do something and then you do nothing…or worse, you do the opposite; you chip away at our trust. Personally, I used to think of you as a true life Days of our Lives but now you are seeming more and more like Passions.

We have obviously been trapped in a decade or more of reality television, but I am afraid we are now entering a phase called Reality Politics. The problem with Reality Politics is there are REAL consequences. No one gives a shit if Paris Hilton sucks another dick to get on TMZ or if another “celebrity” wins a bullshit competition, but when assholes start asking to bring back the electric chair or worse yet, we accuse foreign governments of assassination plots without proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is true, we have problems. It wasn’t long ago that “News” was a topic of concern, one that men discussed late at night while smoking a pipe. Nowadays, we are bombarded by ignorant comments followed by apologies, shock value statements followed by retractions. Does anyone else see this worsening trend?

Have our elders lost their FUCKING MINDS?!!!?! Where are the people who taught us right from wrong? Where are the clergy who said “Love thy Neighbor” and “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?” Where are the Scoutmasters who taught us to “leave a place better than we found it?”

I am seriously disappointed at our current state of affairs. I have a large number of young people who constantly ask me questions alluding to the idea of “is this all normal?” And you know what? It isn’t FUCKING NORMAL. I grew up in the tail end of the Cold War. There wasn’t half as much turmoil during that bullshit war as there is now. I had modest, yet awesome Christmases. My parents didn’t seem half as worried as I have been in the past decade about things like money, jobs, food, war, the environment, the future…The more I look at what the politicians are doing the more I feel like our localized elders are doing the exact same shit. Preach one thing and do the other. I understand getting older is scary. I can imagine handing the reigns to a generation that you held in your arms and wiped its ass must seem ridiculous. But you taught us well and we want to make this a better place, and by saying that statement “a better place” we are not indicting you by saying you did something wrong, on the contrary. You gave us the tools to make us the smartest, most compassionate, technologically advanced, earth-friendly generation that has ever lived. We didn’t learn how to recycle on our own…so why do you make fun of us for it? We didn’t teach ourselves how to eat, you fed us. We are mankind 2.0 and you need to let us leave our mark on the world, because there is an even better generation below us!

So I ask you to join us. Help us put our knowledge and energy into bettering the lives of everyone around us, including yours. It’s going to happen sooner or later – why wait until you are all gone to enjoy it? Plus, we could really use some sage advice and wisdom on things while you are still around. You’ve never let us down before, please don’t make now the first time.

You may or may not have seen Obama’s Iraq speech last night, but in my opinion it wasn’t one of his best. First of all, it is great news that we are pulling out of Iraq. Better late than never, but not without some serious costs. I graduated college in 2001, just months before 9/11. And I can honestly say it hasn’t been a decent economy for regular, working class people since. So, what I have been wondering is when will regular, working class and middle class people WAKE THE FUCK UP and realize that the threat of terrorism isn’t worth losing your jobs, your homes, and your children’s future over?

Unfortunately, over the last decade, we have not done what is necessary to shore up the foundation of our own prosperity. We have spent over a trillion dollars at war, often financed by borrowing from overseas. This, in turn, has short-changed investments in our own people, and contributed to record deficits. For too long, we have put off tough decisions on everything from our manufacturing base to our energy policy to education reform. As a result, too many middle class families find themselves working harder for less, while our nation’s long-term competitiveness is put at risk.

Why doesn’t Obama take more shots at his predecessor? His language is so soft and vague that I started wondering if it was Obama’s fault we are in this mess – even thought it was obviously George W. In 2 years the Republicans are going to make us all forget that George W. ever existed and unfortunately it is up to Obama to remind people’s short term memory that he is the clean up crew not the destroyer.

Our most urgent task is to restore our economy, and put the millions of Americans who have lost their jobs back to work. To strengthen our middle class, we must give all our children the education they deserve, and all our workers the skills that they need to compete in a global economy. We must jumpstart industries that create jobs, and end our dependence on foreign oil. We must unleash the innovation that allows new products to roll off our assembly lines, and nurture the ideas that spring from our entrepreneurs. This will be difficult. But in the days to come, it must be our central mission as a people, and my central responsibility as President.

I’m sorry, but I feel like we have been hearing this rhetoric for fucking years now. I’m into it; it all sounds great! Let’s fucking go green! Let’s get some jobs and educations and shit! What’s the fucking holdup? Is it congress? Is it the house? If so, Obama should be telling the American people who is stalling so we know who is KEEPING US FROM HOMES AND JOBS.

This speech was fucking worthless and Obama needs to RUN SHIT. And if any of this shit bothers you call your congressmen and tell them you will make sure they do not get elected again if they don’t RUN SHIT.
