April 17th, 2012 | A/V Club, Music | 0 Comments

Last night Neon Trees played The Bowery Ballroom in New York City on the eve of their record release. Their second LP “Picture Show” is out today. There are a bunch of jams on the record and one of those is featured above.Neon Trees performed their new song “Lessons In Love”, a song also featured on the new Kaskade record (Neon Trees X Kaskade) to a sold out venue. If you dig the track pick up a copy of the record and catch the band on tour near you.

CURSIVE | Some Red Handed Slight of Hand | Live at Bowery Ballroom

April 5th, 2012 | A/V Club, Music | 0 Comments

Last night CURSIVE played Bowery Ballroom in New York City. It was a great set packed with jams from Domestica up until current Cursive. Tim Kasher was on his best behavior and told some funny stories about perverts in the movie theatre. Enjoy the video and go see CURSIVE if they come to a town near you. If this is the first you are hearing of the band, check out the album “The Ugly Organ” which is by far one of my favorite albums of all time.

Givers | Meantime | Video

November 22nd, 2011 | A/V Club, Music | 1 Comment

Givers have a new video for their single “Meantime”. If you are unfamiliar with Givers, they are an indie pop outfit from Louisiana signed to Glassnote Records. They sound like a mix of the good parts that make up Vampire Weekend and Surfer Blood. I enjoyed watching this low budget, fun video!

Mates of State 2011 Tour : Live Video From Salt Lake City

November 17th, 2011 | A/V Club, Music, P.O.V. | 0 Comments

Mates of State have been a huge part of Leslie and my relationship. After starting my first vintage shop in Texas, I used to meet with bands I admired and swap clothing for merch. I became friendly with Josh Berwanger of The Anniversary, and chilled with him every time he came through Austin, and on one of those tours his opening band was Mates of State. Read More

Gauntlet Hair- I Was Thinking

November 14th, 2011 | A/V Club, Music | 1 Comment

I don’t know if I can forgive lo-fi group Gauntlet Hair for having their Myspace page as their first hit on Google, but I’m really into the music. Their new self titled record is out there, floating around on the internet. It’s in your best interest to listen to it.

Cool Bands I Saw During CMJ: Vacationer

October 24th, 2011 | A/V Club | 0 Comments

After being underwhelmed for the majority of my week by god awful bands and the lack of free liquor, I headed over to Brooklyn Bowl on Saturday evening to see Vacationer. Vacationer is light-hearted, dreamy indie pop: very much the current Brooklyn sound infused with a big, bubbly bong rip.

On only their 5th show ever, there was an impressive crowd swaying and sipping their pints of Octoberfest. Check them out at their bandcamp page below:
