Shrinking Closet Part III

This installment of Shrinking Closet features some must cop summer kicks, some all around jammers, and that “where did you get those?!” pair.

First up is the Nike Roshe Runs in a pure platinum and anthracite color way. The lightweight and airy mesh upper combined with the EVA foam outsole make a supremely comfortable shoe. The upper conforms to your foot and gives life to the shoe. (Run’s a 1/2 size big)

Next up is the UNDFTD x Converse Pro Leather Ox. Recently opened up to the retail giant Footlocker, this collab is finally available to a broader audience. This all around lifestyle shoe kings the streets and is a must have.

Lastly is the Nike Lunar Flow Woven’s. The “those are sick” pair, that will be pulling compliments all over the place. They are in a Anthracite/Black-Bamboo colorway that scream summer and comfort. You can see the craftsmanship in this shoe and is definitely worth the price! (Runs a bit small so go a half size up)

The exhibit was excellent featuring well known street artists from around the world including Ron English (New York), The London Police (The Neatherlands), Kid Zoom (Australia), ROA (Belgium), DALeast (China), Saber (USA) and many more. I absolutely love sign painting. I feel like sign painting is one of the most interesting and comforting forms of art that i have ever been around, it has so many stylized technical elements to it that its hard not to be a little curious about the skill thats involved in it. I have been so into sign painting over the past year after going to the Best Dressed Signs show at Orchard last year that i begged my dearest friend Mr.Nakayama to start teaching me the craft. This is a great film and i hope it gets people to not only support these artist but also makes you look at the letters on the building you live in a little different next time you walk by them.

Tomorrow TTHU’s good friends Project SF have put together a super dope show at the Distillery in south boston. I went by last night to sneak a peek before going to see Mr.Nakayama and I was PUMPED to see all the amazing new work from them!!! I am guessing the weather will suck tomorrow night like it has the past 3 fucking days, so I think there is no better way to spend your night then to look at some amazing art work. check the details out below!!!!

The Distillery Gallery is pleased to announce an upcoming exhibit presented by the Boston-based artist collective, Project Super Friends (SF). “Friends With Benefits” collects individual and collaborative works of artists selected by members of Project SF. Collaborations between these artists and respective members of SF serve as a visual essay on the curatorial process.

About Project SF:

Founded in 1999, Project Super Friends is a group of creative individuals in all media. Mostly known for their collaborative murals and live art events, each member is an established artist in their respective field. When working together, individual members bring a unique perspective and aesthetic to collective projects.

Selected artists for “Friends with Benefits” include:

Marion Bolognesi, All Chrome, Jay LaCouture, MCA, Peter Pracilio, Preys UPS, and Pat Falco, along with collaborations with Project Super Friends: Josh Falk, Evoker, Stephen Holding, Fish McGill, MRNVR, Dana Woulfe and Matthew Zaremba.

Kenji Nakayama | Woodward Gallery NYC | Opening Party

When your art is this badass, it usually comes with a certain arrogance. But when it comes to Kenji, he is the most humble, honest, respectful, a little bit shy, and straight up an all around good dude. So you can imagine that his first NYC solo show this past Saturday (May 6th), at Woodward Gallery, was packed with familiar faces and new admirers.

Here is what the night looked like through my lens:

And don’t worry, if you didn’t get a chance to check it out at the opening, the show will be up until July 7th.

After a super successful opening, you have to travel with your party of 15 to your local Vietnamese place for some grub. Luckily they could accomodate our party in 5 minutes… Unreal!

And while your at it, why not tell the waiter that it is Big Jus’ birthday, definitely was not, and make him stand on a chair while everyone sings…

YUP!

Then after that, hit the bars hard for a night of shenanigans.

This would be when the good camera went away, and the phone became the lens. I would much rather have a broken phone then my nikon…

The morning came with the consequences of a good night, the hangover that everyone was feeling. This quickly being cured by a latte, super nice weather, some grub in the park, and a nice Retna piece.

All in all it was an amazing trip filled with great people, amazing art, ridiculous conversations, and a ton of booze. Kenji’s hard work has gotten him everything he has and I am glad I was there to reap the benefits! To Kenji!

MAY 4TH | FIRST LOOK AT THE KENJI NAKAYAMA SOLO SHOW with BIGJUS

Here is some pre show photos of me and Kenji seeing the gallery for the first time after the work was hung “AMAZING”.. I have been to lots of art shows over the years, but this felt and looked different, it felt like there was something bigger going on and the vibe was positive as it comes. I am so proud of Kenji and it was great to be able to be there with him for the first look at the biggest show of his life so far. check out the pics!!!
